The Kestrel's Perch
Work is kicking my rear right now - no free time, no rest, no weekends.
Also, I just found out that an At sign followed by two dollar signs prevents a post from showing up in ANYONE's friends list...argh.
So hopefully you'll forgive me for being unable to think straight or update (ever). Here's a second (third) try at this announcement, now with the correct date.

I'm throwing a B-day party for Cat! Anyone who want's to come, please do. Bring friends. Heck, many of Cat's friends don't read my livejournal, so feel free to link this.

Where: Chez Townsend (In Bradford, near the NH border)
When: June 27th, starting at 3 PM
Who: You! And us. And some other people.
What: Party. That should have been obvious.
Why: Oh come on. Now you're just being silly...

If you need our address, phone or whatever, send me or Cat an e-mail! Kestrel404, either Yahoo or Gmail.

To celebrate, here's something Cat won't let me do.

For the win!

http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/

They made it, trading a single red paperclip for a house (yes, a real, liveable, actual house on real land they own) in a single year. Sweet. Wish I'd thought of that.

I spotted a mention of this a few weeks ago, and just remembered to google for it. Found tons of interesting stuff, but I've seperated the wheat from the chaff for anyone who's interested. The two best links:

For anyone interested in thermodynamics, this is big news. Breaking the second law (well, bending it into a pretzel) kind of news. Next step: a perpetual motion machine!

I escaped from the Dungeon of Kestrel404!

I killed Juldea the floating eye, Etherial the rat, Slarti the owlbear, Yuehrmah the cockatrice, Mr Teem the troll, Drdt the floating eye and Lady Darkwolf the arch-demon.

I looted the Crown of Cykotek, the Dagger of Dirkcjelli, the Shield of Mpgalvin, the Armour of Doc Smiley, the Wand of Unix, the Wand of Books, the Sword of Kadath, the Armour of 7threality, the Sword of Starkwire and 76 gold pieces.

Score: 151

What they didn't mention, but should have, was the Shrine of k1ttycat. I prayed there every time I passed it.

Not my cup of tea, but many of my friends should be interested to note that Kingdom of Loathing got the title of "Best Free Web RPG Parody" from Wired Magazine's Table of Malcontents. So congrats for being the best in your niche!

So, I spotted this over on digg, and thought some of you might be interested (hint: Kadath).

It's a version of Pong, played in a field of 'plasma', where you can affect the fluid dynamics of the field in real time.

Unfortunately, the download site is down right now. Perhaps it will be downloadable again when the diggers move on (sometime tomorrow).

Be seein' you.

This is the funniest article I've read in recent memory.

Who would be willing to come out to just south of New Hampshire for a New Year's Party? There will be lots of food (no, think bigger, more food than that), plenty of booze, and hopefully lots of good company, in a rather small house.

Give us a heads up if you're interested.
